Joseph A. Fazioli Joins Dechert’s Litigation Practice in Silicon Valley

Dechert LLP, a global specialist law firm, announced today that Joseph A. Fazioli has joined the firm as a partner in the litigation department. He was most recently an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of California. Fazioli will be resident in the firm’s Silicon Valley office where his practice will include representation of clients across a wide range of complex business disputes, including white collar defense, internal investigations, SEC enforcement proceedings, securities litigation, trade secrets disputes, and other commercial litigation.

“We are very pleased to have Joe join the firm,” said Andrew J. Levander, chair of the firm’s policy committee. “Joe has extensive trial experience, particularly in the white collar area, and will be a great asset to our clients.”

Fazioli joined the United States Attorney’s Office in January 2004. During his tenure as a prosecutor, he tried 11 federal criminal cases to verdict, including eight jury trials. He worked on numerous complex white collar fraud trials and investigations, and obtained victories as lead counsel in four separate white collar jury trials over a 27-month period. Fazioli also served as lead counsel on five federal criminal appeals, including making two Ninth Circuit oral arguments.

Prior to joining the United States Attorney’s Office, Fazioli was an associate at the litigation boutique Bartlit Beck Herman Palenchar & Scott, where he represented corporations in a variety of civil litigation matters. His professional experience also includes serving as a litigation analyst at Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group, where he conducted corporate fraud investigations and provided management consulting services for both corporations and individuals.

“I am excited to join Dechert’s outstanding and growing white collar and complex commercial litigation teams,” said Fazioli. “I look forward to the opportunity to apply my litigation skills and professional experiences to serve our clients.”

Fazioli is a graduate of Stanford University (A.B., 1994) and Harvard Law School (J.D., 1999), where he was the Notes Editor for the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy. He served as a law clerk to the Honorable David A. Nelson of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He is a member of the California and Illinois Bars.
