Jenner & Block LLP today announces that well-respected patent litigation attorney Louis E. Fogel has joined the firm as a partner in our Chicago office. He is a member of the firm’s Patent Litigation & Counseling Practice.
Louis counsels clients in all aspects of patent litigation to help businesses achieve their strategic and scientific goals. He has substantial experience in sophisticated patent litigation matters affecting a variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, biological drugs, medical devices, chemicals and consumer electronics. Before earning his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School, Louis completed a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Chicago.

Jenner & Block is actively building out its pharmaceutical and life sciences practice, which requires a team with strong technical depth. The firm has several partners and associates with robust technical credentials, including bachelors and advanced degrees in biology, chemistry, computer science, electrical engineering and other related fields.

With more than 10 years of trial experience gained while at Ropes & Gray LLP and Sidley Austin LLP, he has been involved in all phases of complex patent litigation from pre-trial investigation and strategy development through appeal. He has significant experience advising clients regarding Hatch-Waxman Act litigation. He is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
