McDermott Will & Emery LLP today announced that leading data privacy and security lawyer Julia B. Jacobson has joined the Firm’s Boston office as a partner. Ms. Jacobson, who was previously with another international law firm, will bring her considerable experience in this area to McDermott’s growing Global Privacy and Data Protection Affinity Group.
Ms. Jacobson focuses her practice on the complex legal and regulatory issues surrounding data and privacy security, including online privacy policies and terms of use. She regularly advises clients on advertising law, including consumer and trade promotions (such as sweepstakes, contests and coupons), digital and email marketing and the promotion and sale of goods across mediums. Clients look to Ms. Jacobson for her unique expertise in matters related to internet law, including e-commerce, mobile apps and social media. In addition, her practice includes software, trademark and merchandise licensing.

Ms. Jacobson received a B.A. from the University of Michigan and both a J.D. and a LLM in Taxation from Boston University School of Law.
