International Arbitration Partner John Roesser Joins Dechert

Dechert LLP is pleased to announce that John Roesser has joined the firm as a partner in the international arbitration practice. Roesser will be resident in the firm’s New York office. He represents clients around the world in complex commercial international disputes before leading arbitral tribunals, in state and federal courts as counsel, and frequently sits as an arbitrator.

“Having John join us in New York means that we have once again made a critical hire as we continue to grow Dechert’s global arbitration footprint,” said Arif H. Ali, co-chair of Dechert’s international arbitration practice. “Given Dechert’s world-leading financial institutions and international litigation practices, we needed someone with deep experience in representing banks and other financial institutions in international arbitrations and cross-border litigation. John’s arrival gives us considerably greater bench strength – not only in financial sector arbitrations but in international commercial arbitration more broadly.”

“In the space of 12 months we have made significant international arbitration hires – first Arif and his team in DC and now John,” added Eduardo Silva Romero, co-chair of Dechert’s international arbitration practice. “We now truly have global reach with international arbitration specialists in various key jurisdictions around the world.”

Prior to joining Dechert, Roesser served as an international arbitration partner at another international law firm.

“I’m very happy to join such a dynamic and well-rounded team at such a highly respected firm,” said Roesser. “I look forward to leveraging the team’s abilities and diversity of experience on behalf of my clients.”

Roesser is a graduate of Connecticut College (1992) and George Washington University School of Law (1995). He is a member of the New York Bar.

Dechert’s international arbitration team has significant experience resolving contentious issues confronting clients engaged in both domestic and cross-border business. Ranked in the top tier for international arbitration by Chambers, The Legal 500, and the Global Arbitration Review 100, we have acted as counsel under all major arbitration rules and in proceedings with a vast range of governing laws and venues.
