Holland & Knight Expands FCPA Practice with Addition of Lisa Prager and Lara Covington

Lisa Prager and Lara Covington have joined Holland & Knight as partners in the firm’s National White Collar Defense & Investigations practice. Ms. Prager and Ms. Covington focus on government investigations and enforcement actions relating to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). They come to Holland & Knight from Schulte Roth & Zabel and will reside in the firm’s New York and Washington, D.C., offices respectively.

Ms. Prager focuses on representing corporations and individuals in a whole range of federal criminal and regulatory matters. She conducts global and domestic internal investigations related to the FCPA, U.S. export controls and economic sanction laws, anti-money laundering laws, the Dodd-Frank Act’s whistleblower provisions and government contracts matters. She also represents clients in False Claims Act cases involving anti-dumping and healthcare regulations. Ms. Prager advises general counsels and senior management regarding company practices, remedial measures such as compliance program enhancements and disciplinary action for employees, and settlement options. Prior to entering private practice, she was an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia and acting assistant secretary and deputy assistant secretary for export enforcement at the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security.

With more than a decade in private practice, Ms. Covington has substantial experience representing corporations and individuals in connection with investigations and enforcement actions involving the FCPA, U.S. export controls and economic sanctions, and other U.S. government regulatory issues. She also has significant experience managing internal investigations, including global investigations for Fortune 500 companies, and designing, enhancing and implementing compliance programs.

Ms. Prager received a J.D. degree from Western New England University School of Law and a B.A. degree from Yale University. Ms. Covington earned a J.D. degree from George Washington University Law School and a B.A. degree from the University of Virginia.
