Greenberg Traurig Adds Sherri Caplan, Continues Strategic Growth of Private Equity and Fund Formation Practice

Leading fund formation attorney Sherri Caplan has joined global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP as a Corporate & Securities shareholder in the New York City office. Before joining the firm, Caplan was a partner at Debevoise & Plimpton since 2001.

Caplan focuses on the organization of private equity funds and the representation of fund investors in private equity funds. She advises sponsors of a diverse range of funds, including real estate, buyout, infrastructure, energy, and mezzanine funds, and has extensive experience representing first-time funds.

“Sherri brings a proven level of excellence and an elite level of quality to our private funds practice. This is an area that is very important to the future of our global law practice, and Sherri has a reputation for being a sophisticated and hands-on client-focused professional and trusted advisor,” said Richard A. Rosenbaum, Executive Chairman of Greenberg Traurig. “For some years, our independent strategy has not been about size or number of offices, but being one, unified firm, holding close to our core cultural values while developing or recruiting talent at this level of excellence in our areas of strength across the U.S. and in key global locations. We then utilize the Greenberg Traurig platform, efficient business model, and collaborative culture to deliver the kind of extraordinary value clients increasingly demand, even for their most sophisticated work. I am pleased that Sherri chose to join the growing group of top-tier lawyers who perceive the uniqueness of this approach and how it will materially benefit their clients; based on our experience, I am confident that this approach will empower her and remove obstacles to her future success as she works to grow this key practice area.”

“Greenberg Traurig offers a combination of world-class service and talent base, value to clients and an ability to adjust nimbly to satisfy client needs,” said Caplan. “It was a natural decision to join Greenberg Traurig at this point in my practice. I knew I wanted to work alongside attorneys of the highest caliber and integrity who offer clients focused experience and seamless coordination on a global platform and a pragmatic and commercial approach to the practice of law. Greenberg Traurig has an exciting story to tell and I am thrilled to be part of it.”
