Pryor Cashman Expands Media & Entertainment Group with Addition of Adam Mehr in Los Angeles

Pryor Cashman LLP is pleased to announce that entertainment industry veteran Adam R. Mehr has joined the firm as a partner in the Media & Entertainment Group. Based in the firm’s Los Angeles office, Mehr joins Pryor Cashman from Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP. Before that, he served for nine years as Executive Vice President, Business Affairs and General Counsel for Gold Circle Entertainment, a leading independent producer, financier and distributor of motion pictures.

Known for his innovative and groundbreaking deals for a full spectrum of clients in the entertainment industry, Mehr brings to the firm a wide range of expertise including all aspects of the financing, development, production, acquisition, distribution and other exploitation of content across multiple platforms including film, television, video games, music, publishing (including graphic novels and comic books), online and other content and related products and services.

“We have deep, 50-year-old roots in the entertainment industry and an important part of continuing that legacy is our planned growth in Los Angeles,” said Ronald H. Shechtman, Pryor Cashman’s managing partner.

James A. Janowitz, chair of firm’s Media & Entertainment group, and one of the country’s most respected entertainment lawyers adds, “We are thrilled to welcome Adam to the firm – it gives us a more powerful presence in this important market and adds strength and dimension to our already deep bench of transactional and litigation attorneys.”

Mehr’s experience spans from independent financiers and producers to major motion picture studios including New Line Cinema and Warner Bros., from art-house and specialty pictures to summer tent-poles, from reality TV to scripted dramas. He also works with a variety of start-up companies developing business plans and connecting strategic partners. At Pryor Cashman, his focus will remain as much about counseling and guiding his client on the business aspects of their deals as the legal aspects.

“My move is about meeting the dynamic needs of my clients and Pryor Cashman provides the perfect, full service platform that aligns seamlessly with those needs. I am honored to join such a well-regarded team where I can continue to build my practice in a very collaborative way,” said Mehr.

Mehr earned his J.D. from Loyola Law School, and his B.A., cum laude, from Occidental College in Los Angeles.
