Eversheds Appoints Leading Partner to Expand Insurance Coverage

Eversheds has welcomed Frank Thompson to its London insurance team. Frank has over 15 years of legal experience focusing on insurance coverage disputes and non-contentious coverage advice and has been ranked as a leading individual by Chambers and Partners for several years.

Experienced in a broad range of insurance products, Frank advises on financial lines policies (professional indemnity, directors & officers liability, bankers blanket bond, crime/fidelity), property/business interruption, warranty and indemnity insurance coverage (and other M&A insurances such as tax indemnity coverage), construction (commercial all risk/contractors and all risk/delay in start-ups) and trade related insurance protections such as political risk and trade credit insurance. He has also advised on insurance coverage for cyber risks both in terms of first party losses, including hacking, and third party liabilities, including privacy breach.

Frank joins the firm as a lateral hire from K&L Gates where he earned recognition for his international work such as Bermuda Form arbitrations and use of insurance products to facilitate cross-border and other transactions. Prior to this, Frank was at Herbert Smith Freehills where he acted on a variety of significant coverage matters, for both policyholders and insurers. These included insurance advice to several leading UK retail banks and acting on insurance issues arising out of the administration of the Nortel group of companies. He has also represented insurance brokers, solicitors and accountants/auditors in professional negligence matters.

Simon Brooks, partner and head of Eversheds Insurance Group, said:

“Frank has built a directory-recognised reputation for himself for contentious insurance work. The synergies that exist between his practice and our existing insurance team will help us maximise current momentum as we continue to provide award-winning advice to our clients. We are delighted to welcome him to our team”.

On his appointment, Frank commented:

“Eversheds has a strong reputation in the insurance market and I look forward to joining the team and building on their existing capabilities. I see my experience across a range of insurance lines both internationally and in the UK domestic/London insurance market as a strong fit with the Eversheds platform”.
