Covington Boosts Dispute Resolution Practice in London with Two Partners

Craig Pollack and Louise Freeman have joined Covington as partners in the firm’s European Dispute Resolution practice resident in London. Mr. Pollack will also serve as co-chair of the firm’s Global Disputes Initiative with former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and former U.S. Under Secretary of State Alan Larson.

Mr. Pollack focuses on complex high value international disputes and was Global Head of Litigation at his previous international firm. He has over 25 years of experience in litigation and arbitration and acts for major investment banks, hedge funds, public companies, and high net worth individuals and has particular expertise in complex commercial litigation, multi-jurisdictional disputes, regulatory investigations, and banking and financial markets disputes. Recognised by Chambers UK, Chambers Europe, Chambers Global, and Legal 500 UK, Mr. Pollack is singled out by the latest edition of Chambers UK as a litigator “who you’d rather have on your side.”

Ms. Freeman concentrates her practice in complex commercial disputes, including mis-selling claims, asset management disputes, inter-creditor issues, and ISDA-related disputes, and her clients include investment banks, international corporate groups, asset managers, and credit rating agencies. In addition, Ms. Freeman represents parties in significant competition litigation proceedings, including the pioneering synthetic rubber cartel damages action, which was named as a “standout” competition matter by the FT’s Innovative Lawyers 2015 and listed as one of The Lawyer’s Top 20 cases of 2014. She is recognised by Legal 500 UK, whose latest edition notes her to be “one of London’s most effective partners.”

Alex Leitch and Jeremy Wilson, co-chairs of Covington’s European Dispute Resolution Practice, commented: “We are very excited that Craig and Louise have joined us in London, as they are top-notch disputes lawyers who will be terrific colleagues. The firm’s growing footprint in London is a reflection of client demand that is fuelled by the increasingly challenging regulatory and compliance environment, and the fact that London is, and will continue to be, a leading venue for international dispute resolution.”

Mr. Pollack said: “Covington’s litigation focus, regulatory prowess, stellar client base, and collegiality makes for a very strong proposition. I look forward to being part of the team.”

Ms. Freeman added: “Covington has always stood out as a firm that is able to solve clients’ most complex problems around the globe. I am thrilled to be joining this ambitious team.”

Mr. Pollack is a solicitor advocate and graduate of Hebrew University of Jerusalem and received his LL.M from King’s College in London. Ms. Freeman received her law degree from Cambridge University.
