Former Denver City Attorney David Fine Joins Holland & Knight

Former Denver City Attorney David Fine has joined Holland & Knight as a litigation partner in its Denver office. Most recently, Mr. Fine was the managing partner for the Denver office of Dentons. He also served as managing partner of McKenna Long & Aldridge’s Denver office prior to the firm’s merger with Dentons.

Mr. Fine’s practice focuses on public and commercial litigation, employment litigation and counseling, and government, public policy and regulatory affairs, including land use and state and local procurement. Among his clients are institutions of higher learning and transportation, concession and energy companies. As Denver City Attorney from 2007 to 2011, he provided policy and legal advice to mayors John Hickenlooper and Michael Hancock and other government leaders, served as the final decision-maker on all crucial legal decisions facing the city, and managed a large public law firm with diverse practices. “David is one of the most highly regarded attorneys in Colorado,” said John Hogan, the chair of Holland & Knight’s Litigation Section. “He has an outstanding reputation not only as a litigator, but also for helping clients successfully navigate a wide range of legal, political and regulatory issues involving local, state and federal government.”

“David is an excellent addition to our Denver team,” added Shawn Turner, the executive partner of Holland & Knight’s Denver office. “As City Attorney, he was at the center of the strategy and legal work that led to Denver’s unprecedented growth. As a result, he’s viewed by prospective and existing Colorado businesses alike as their go-to person when it comes to government advocacy.”

“Holland & Knight’s platform is a great fit for my practice,” said Mr. Fine. “I’m particularly interested in tapping into the firm’s widely recognized strengths in education, transportation, public-private partnerships and government relations, and look forward to contributing to the growth of the Denver office.”
