Firms Rush to Take Advantage of Mortgage Mess |

Since the subprime meltdown, an estimated 20 firms have opened subprime practice groups, totaling at least 500 attorneys. One of the first firms was Greenberg Traurig, whose practice began in August with 48 lawyers. This is the biggest rush to open new groups since the savings & loan crisis two years ago.

Morgan Lewis & Brockius has defeated the $20 million law suit brought on them by a former client. Bro-Tech Corporation, functioning under the name Purolite, brought the breach of contract suit against the law firm due to the recommendation on the part of their attorneys that the company continue dealings with Cuba. The jury came back after three and a half hours of deliberation with a unanimous verdict for the defense.
