Tracy Shapiro Rejoins Wilson Sonsini’s Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice

Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, the premier provider of legal services to technology, life sciences, and growth enterprises worldwide, announced today that Tracy Shapiro has rejoined the firm’s privacy and cybersecurity practice as a partner in the San Francisco office. She was previously an attorney in the firm’s privacy practice for six years.

Most recently, Shapiro was a partner in the data protection, privacy, and security group at DLA Piper in San Francisco. Previously, was a member of Wilson Sonsini’s privacy practice for six years, first as associate and then as Of Counsel.

Doug Mandell joins Withers in San Francisco to form dedicated international practice for founders and senior executives

Doug Mandell, one of the most well-known advisors to founders and CEOs in Silicon Valley on personal legal issues and the former first General Counsel to companies such as LinkedIn and Nauto Inc., has joined Withers in San Francisco as a partner. Doug will head the firm’s Founder Practice, advising entrepreneurs, CEOs, VCs and other C-Level executives.

Mandell joins Withers from Mandell Law Group, PC (“MLG”), a firm he founded almost twenty years ago. Prior to launching MLG, Doug was an attorney at Orrick and Littler Mendelson.

Schiff Hardin Expands International Practice With Addition of Corporate and Litigation Partner Duo

Schiff Hardin LLP today announced the addition of two partners in its New York and San Francisco offices, who together will significantly expand the firm’s international practice.

Philippe Manteau has returned to Schiff Hardin in New York after four years at Loeb & Loeb, where he chaired its Western Europe Corporate Practice. He will chair Schiff Hardin’s International Practice. Patrick Downes, also formerly at Loeb & Loeb, joins the San Francisco office, bringing extensive litigation experience on employment matters, contract disputes, and product labeling and advertising. Working together as a team, the duo will serve as outside general counsel for foreign clients investing and litigating in the United States.

Brady Berg Rejoins Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati

He will be a member of the firm’s emerging companies practice.

Most recently, Berg was general counsel at Cylance, a next-generation AI-based cybersecurity software company, from 2015 to 2019, where he helped guide the company through rapid growth and a global expansion, as well as an IPO process and eventual sale to BlackBerry in 2019.

Baker Botts Welcomes State and Local Tax Partner to San Francisco Office

Baker Botts L.L.P. announced today that William Gorrod has joined the firm’s San Francisco office as a partner in the State and Local Tax (SALT) practice.

Previously with Morrison & Foerster LLP, Mr. Gorrod is the seventh partner to join the firm’s San Francisco office within the past year. In 2019, Baker Botts welcomed lateral partners that included leading technology litigators, Jonathan Patchen and Cheryl Cauley; environmental crisis partners Lily Chinn and Matt Baker; tax controversy partner Jon Feldhammer; and technology and capital markets partner, Michael Torosian.
