McCarter & English has boosted its Tax & Benefits group with a recent hire.  Kenneth Yoon joins the firm’s New York office as partner. Arent Fox LLP is taking the hit of Yoon’s departure.

John Douglas has taken a position with Davis Polk & Wardwell to lead its bank regulatory practice.  Douglas most recently practiced with Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker.  He joins the New York office.

Cozen O’Connor has added two attorneys to its New York Offices.  Angelo Savino has enters into the firm’s global insurance practice group.  Robert E. Fischer joins as of counsel as a corporate attorney.  Cozen has hired more than 30 attorneys in the last few months.

Bryan Cave has added two lawyers to its New York office.  Daniel Tamkin has joined the firm as of counsel in the M&A and Private Equity practice groups.  Charles Avigliano will practice in the Intellectual Property Group as an associate.

McKool Smith has added five litigators to its New York office.  Eric P. Berger, Virginia Iglesia, Katherine B. Thornburgh, John F. Petrsoric, and Benjamin J. Warlick join the firm as newbies but are certainly not new to the legal field.  Berger joins the firm from the New York office of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges.  Miami’s Greenberg Traurig lost Iglesia to McKool.  Thornburgh made the jump from the New York Office of Howrey LLP.  Petrsoric worked most recently with Goodwin Procter in New York.  Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison is losing Warlick to McKool.

Clifford Chance has lost partner David Bernstein to K&L Gates.  Bernstein is joining the firm’s New York office from his former firm’s New York office. He joined Clifford Chance when the firmed merged with Rogers and Wells.  Bernstein was head of the corporate practice and chairman of the M&A group.

David Hertzog has made his way back to Winston & Strawn LLP.  He rejoins as of counsel in the firm’s New York office.  Hertzog practices corporate law, focusing on securities, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and financial transactions.  Hertzog joined the firm the first time when his firm Hertzog, Calamari & Gleason merged with Winston & Strawn in 1999.

Foley & Lardner has added two veteran energy attorneys.  Howard Margulis and Ellen Wolchek join the New York office from Troutman Sanders.  They both join the Finance & Financial Institutions Practice and Energy Industry practice group.

Clifford Chance has lost four litigation partners who have decided to start their own arbitration boutique in NY.  Peter Chaffetz , David Lindsey, Charlie Scibetta and James Hosking left to start the firm.  Counsel Cecilia Moss joins them.  The new firm, which officially opened Tuesday, May 5^th, is called Chaffetz Lindsey.  It will focus on international arbitration, reinsurance and commercial litigation.

A month has yet to even pass as Linklaters hires its second US partner.  Daniel Dufner joins the firm from White & Case’s New York office.  Linklaters now has 7 partners in its New York’s corporate practice.  Prior to joining White & Case, Dufner practiced with Sullivan & Cromwell.
