Platform Specialty Products Announces Proposed Acquisition of Alent plc for Approximately $2.3 Billion

Paul, Weiss client Platform Specialty Products Corporation and Alent plc announced the terms of a recommended offer by Platform to acquire all of the issued and outstanding shares of Alent in a cash and stock transaction for approximately $2.1 billion. Including the net debt, the total transaction value is approximately $2.3 billion. The transaction will be implemented by way of a court-sanctioned scheme of arrangement under U.K. law. Platform is a global, diversified producer of high technology specialty chemical products and provider of technical services.
