Latham and A&O Made Most Hires and Fires

Latham & Watkins and Allen & Overy (A&O) have reportedly made the most hires and firings over the span of the last two years. Since Janary 2008. Latham & Watkins has made 48 lateral hires and A&O made 46. Latham announced last February that the firm was going to make 190 associates redundant. By the end of April 2009, A&O had let 400 staff go.

Dechert Hires Clifford Chance Moscow Head

Dechert has just scored Clifford Chance’s head of litigation and arbitration in Moscow. Ivan Marisin, who has spent the last 18 years with Clifford has just joined Dechert. Marisin brings along Vasily Kuznetsov, counsel and Alexander Sidorov, associate.

The (Almost) Invisible Lateral Move

Ken Ziman almost made the switch from Simpson Thacher to Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom without anyone noticing. Neither firm released a press release discussing the move. Ziman joined Skadden last week as a restructuring partner.
