Linklaters advised the Italian UniCredit S.p.A. on its most recent capital increase. With this measure, the large bank reacted to the results of the stress test performed by the European Banking Authority, which had identified the capital gap. A higher Tier 1 capital ratio should help to better absorb the loss and default risk of banks in the future. This capital increase by €7.5 billion has been the largest capital measure ever implemented by an Italian bank.

Middletons, in co-operation with Iffla Wade, acted for Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk PT (TBIG) in successfully signing an agreement with Indosat for the purchase of 2,500 tower assets and lease of site space to PT Indosat Tbk (Indosat), for upfront amount of US$406 million made up of cash and shares and a maximum potential earn-out amount of US$113 million.

Volcan issued US$600 million 5.375% Senior Notes due 2022 in a Rule 144A/Regulation S offering. Volcan is the leading producer of silver and lead and the second producer of zinc in Peru in the first nine months of 2011, according to the Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines. Volcan will use the net proceeds of this offering for general corporate purposes, including to fund expansion projects and acquisitions to expand its operations.
