Mayer Brown, a leading global law firm, announced today that former Federal Communications Commission (FCC) official Angela Giancarlo has joined its Washington, DC office as a partner in the Government & Global Trade practice, where she will focus on regulatory and compliance matters with respect to communications technology and services. During her eight years with the FCC, Ms. Giancarlo held several senior management positions, and, most recently, served as Chief of Staff and Senior Legal Advisor to Commissioner Robert McDowell.

Shearman & Sterling Advises on US-Mexico Tomato Growers Trade Agreement

Shearman & Sterling is advising more than 600 Mexican tomato growers in a successful renegotiation of a bilateral trade agreement with the US Department of Commerce that ensures continued access to the US market for fresh Mexican-grown tomatoes. This new accord extends a previous agreement that has, since 1996, provided the strong and workable framework by which the Mexican growers exported their tomatoes to the U.S. market. The total value of trade is valued at almost $2 billion a year.
