David E. Nahmias, the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, and Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, will join the Firm as a partner based in the Atlanta Office. He will lead the Investigations & White Collar Defense team in Atlanta while also working with the Firm’s Issues & Appeals Practice.
Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has hired a group of 19 Intellectual Property (IP) & Technology Practice attorneys and patent agents, more than half of whom will be in the firm’s Salt Lake City office, which first opened less than three years ago. New Shareholders Bryan K. Hanks and Jonathan R. Lee, both registered patent attorneys with electrical engineering backgrounds, will spend time in the firm’s Salt Lake City and Phoenix offices. Eleven of the attorneys on the team will be based in Salt Lake City, nearly doubling the number of attorneys in that office. The 31-person team, which includes specialist engineers and business staff, joined from FisherBroyles LLP.

Holland & Knight announced today that a nationally recognized team of nine partners with extensive experience in the energy industry have joined the firm from Eversheds. The team is led by energy and renewables partner Ram Sunkara in Houston and tax partner Amish Shah in Washington, D.C. The group also includes partners Jackson Allen and Kyle Wamstad in Atlanta; Joshua Belcher and Ronnie Dabbasi in Houston; Madeleine Tan in New York; and Alexander Holtan and Susan Lafferty in Washington, D.C.
Top 100 U.S. law firm Akerman LLP has expanded its national Corporate Practice Group with partners Jonathan Beckham in Atlanta and Michael Fulks in Winston-Salem. They are the fifth and sixth partners to join Akerman’s national corporate team this year after New York partner Cristina Gonzalez, Atlanta partner Bryan Reese, Winston-Salem partner Steven “Will” Walker, and Los Angeles partner Peter Hurm. Beckham comes to the firm from Greenberg Traurig while Fulks previously practiced with MIchael Best & Friedrich.
Barnes & Thornburg has added Loretta Freeman as a partner in the Atlanta office, where she joins the Intellectual Property Department and concentrates her practice on patent and trademark law. Freeman joins the team from Merchant & Gould PC
