Sidley Adds Partner Vadim Brusser to its Growing Antitrust Practice

Sidley is pleased to announce that Vadim Brusser has joined as a partner in the firm’s Antitrust practice with a particular focus on merger clearance work for the firm’s growing Private Equity practice and for strategic corporate clients. He joins Sidley from Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where he counseled numerous private equity and strategic clients on U.S. and international competition issues.

Mr. Brusser has built a successful career advising clients on the antitrust aspects of U.S. and international M&A transactions and business collaborations across multiple industries, including healthcare, technology, energy, retail, and consumer products, with an emphasis on cross-border transactions. Prior to working in private practice, he was a lawyer at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), where he litigated federal antitrust enforcement actions and investigated mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, licensing agreements, and business practices for federal antitrust violations.

“We value a culture of teamwork and collaboration, and Vadim’s commitment to maintaining that same ethos aligns perfectly with our firm’s values. Vadim’s arrival will further build out our antitrust practice and strengthen our ability to provide world-class antitrust and merger clearance advice to our growing roster of private equity and corporate clients,” said Brian Fahrney, global co-leader of the M&A and Private Equity group and a member of the firm’s Management Committee and Executive Committee.

“Given Vadim’s background with the FTC, his commitment to clients, and impressive record of deals in a variety of industries, we are thrilled to welcome him to the Sidley family,” said Yvette Ostolaza, the firm’s Management Committee chair and Executive Committee member. “Vadim was known to many of our partners and clients, so it was a natural fit to have him join our growing antitrust practice. We are excited to support his practice.”

Mr. Brusser’s arrival comes following other recent antitrust hires, including partners Lawrence Silverman and Carrie Mahan.

Sidley’s Antitrust practice represents public and private corporations, funds, individuals, and associations in cases involving claims of price fixing, market allocation, actual or attempted monopolization, price discrimination, resale price maintenance, refusals to deal, information exchanges, improper dealer terminations, and other alleged antitrust violations. We have also litigated private and public challenges to proposed mergers and acquisitions.

Sidley’s preeminent global M&A practice has nearly 500 lawyers that are engaged in the full spectrum of public and private mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions across a variety of industries, including antitrust, life sciences, energy, healthcare, real estate, consumer products, manufacturing, technology, media and telecoms, financial services, and insurance.
