DLA Piper announced today that Gregory Smith has joined the firm’s Finance practice as a partner in the Washington, DC, office.
Smith, who joins DLA Piper from Allen & Overy, where he headed the firm’s Agency Finance group in the Americas, focuses on international financing transactions, particularly within emerging markets and developing nations. He represents lenders, host country governments, project sponsors, and private equity funds in connection with the development and financing of projects in sectors such as energy, financial services, housing, manufacturing, microfinance, mining, petrochemicals, telecommunications, and transportation.

Over the course of his career, Smith has advised clients on transactions across Africa, Central and South Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. He is especially well known as one of the leading lawyers for representing development finance institutions, export credit agencies and multilateral agencies in complex, cross-border project financings.

Smith earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and his A.B. from Georgetown University.
