Continuing the strong growth that led to the rise to the #5 position on Law360’s largest IP boutiques, Novak Druce acquired another partner in its Washington D.C. office. Sunwoo Lee, Ph.D., recently departed the Washington D.C. office of Fox Rothschild to join Novak Druce as the Co-Chair of the Asia Pacific Practice Group. Dr. Lee’s well-rounded practice is a combination of IP litigation, prosecution, and counseling.

Dr. Lee has extensive knowledge in the areas of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and materials science. He received his JD from George Mason University, his Ph.D. from Syracuse University in Solid State Science & Technology, his M.S. in Materials Science & Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, and his B.S. from Hanyang University. Dr. Lee also brings years of industry experience as a senior scientist and project manager at a Fortune 100 company, where he worked on solid-state thin film devices, including wide band gap semiconductors.

Prior to joining Novak Druce, Dr. Lee practiced at several NLJ 250 and AmLaw 100 firms, serving as partner, IP Practice Group Leader, and Patent Practice Group Chair. Dr. Lee’s legal experience includes serving as lead counsel for many cases, including patent infringement, trademark infringement, and trade secret disputes, in federal district courts as well as before the International Trade Commission. Sunwoo is also seasoned in building and managing international patent and trademark portfolios, patent mining, and prosecuting patents in the areas of electronic and mechanical devices and software.
