Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP announced today that Roel Campos and Terence Healy will join the firm as partners in its Washington, D.C. office. The two will lead the firm’s Securities Enforcement Practice Group as Chair and Vice Chair, respectively.

Campos served as Commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission from 2002 to 2007. Earlier in his career, he served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Los Angeles. Healy served as Senior Assistant Chief Litigation Counsel for the SEC’s Division of Enforcement from 2008 to 2012. In that role, he prosecuted violations of the federal securities laws as part of the SEC’s Trial Unit. Before joining the SEC he was a Trial Attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice.

“Roel and Terence are two of the most qualified and respected lawyers in the area of securities regulation and enforcement,” said Candace K. Beinecke, Chair of Hughes Hubbard. “As former prosecutors and regulators working at the most senior levels of government, they have experience and insight that will bring tremendous value to our clients.”

Campos and Healy regularly advise corporate management teams, boards of directors, private funds, and individuals on a variety of regulatory and enforcement issues. Both have extensive experience representing clients in regulatory investigations and enforcement proceedings before the SEC, Department of Justice, FINRA, and other financial regulators. Both partners also bring a deep understanding of issues related to accounting and financial fraud, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, private fund management, insider trading, and corporate governance.

“We are tremendously excited to welcome Roel and Terence to the team,” said Kevin T. Abikoff, Co-Chairman of the Securities Litigation Practice Group. “Their practice is an ideal complement to our existing securities litigation practice, and their experience in the regulatory and enforcement arena brings a new dimension to our offering for clients.”

“Terence and I are very excited to be joining Hughes Hubbard,” said Campos. “We know our clients will benefit tremendously from the firm’s great platform and capabilities, as well as the team’s creative approach to problem solving.”
