Robert Farmer Joins Gowling WLG’s Canadian Banking & Finance Group

Gowling WLG is pleased to welcome Robert Farmer as a partner in the firm’s national Banking & Finance Group. He will be based in the Toronto office.

In addition to banking and finance, Robert assists clients in real estate, transactions and development, and mergers and acquisitions. He regularly acts for Canada’s largest banks and financial institutions, as well as US-based lenders, on complex domestic and cross-border financing transactions. His client portfolio also comprises of specialized and private lenders, including lenders engaged in asset-based financing, mezzanine financing and personal loans.

Prior to practising law, Robert had an extensive 20-year career in finance and investment banking, serving as senior officer with Canada’s largest bank and as head of a private investment fund. Most recently, he was a partner and head of the Canadian Banking Group at an international law firm.
