Simpson Thacher’s Tokyo Office Represents Managers in $2.25 Billion Senior Bond Offering by The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd.

Simpson Thacher’s Tokyo office recently represented the managers, led by Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC, Mitsubishi UFJ Securities (USA), Inc. and J.P. Morgan Securities LLC in an offering of $2.25 billion senior notes in four tranches due 2016 (floating rate), 2016, 2018 and 2023 (fixed rate) of The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd. (“BTMU”). The offering was conducted pursuant to Rule 144A and Regulation S. The bonds are listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange.

BTMU, the major operating subsidiary of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc., is one of the world’s largest commercial banks, with ¥169.5 trillion in consolidated total assets as of September 30, 2012.

The Simpson Thacher team that worked on the transaction included Alan Cannon and David Snowden (Capital Markets), Robert Holo and Jodi Sackel (Tax).
