International law firm Bird & Bird today grows its Dispute Resolution practice with the appointment of Julie Cheeseman as a partner in Sydney. Julie joins the firm from Ashurst where she has been special counsel since 2018.
She specialises in TMT disputes covering a variety of technologies and complex implementations including billing, inventory management, customer management and e-Health systems as well as satellite and cable transmission networks. She regularly analyses complex IT supply contracts and advises customers and suppliers on liability matters.
Julie has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution techniques (e.g. negotiation and mediation) working alongside her clients’ executive and commercial teams. She advises public and private sector clients with respect to Australia’s privacy legislation drafting privacy policies and data breach response plans and has delivered seminars and training to clients on Australia’s notifiable data breach regime.
In addition to Julie’s technology and data protection experience, for the last 10 years she has regularly provided pre-publication advice to editors, journalists and producers in relation to print, digital and film publications.
