Prominent Antitrust Attorney Joins Polsinelli’s St. Louis Office

Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli is pleased to announce that Arindam Kar has joined the firm as a shareholder in the St. Louis office. Kar, an attorney with more than 20 years of experience, will be a member of Polsinelli’s national Antitrust practice. Throughout his extensive career, he has assisted numerous global clients in matters of antitrust compliance, counseling, and government investigations. Prior to joining the firm, Kar was operating from the St. Louis office of Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner.

Kar’s extensive legal experience also includes advising clients on complex global mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and group purchasing organization formations. He has worked in a diverse range of industries including agribusiness, animal genetics and nutrition, healthcare, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, retail, and trade associations. Kar also has defended clients in litigation involving attempted monopolization, monopolization, and price-discrimination claims.

His work has led him to be peer-nominated as one of the “Best Lawyers In America®” in Antitrust, as well as hold leadership positions within the ABA Antitrust Section and Missouri Bar. In addition to his antitrust practice, Kar has assisted several higher education clients on a wide range of issues including data privacy, free expression on campus, general legal compliance, immigration, and risk management.

Kar is also an active community leader who focuses his volunteer efforts within the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion. He regularly handles pro bono immigration matters and is currently helping lead the region’s effort to resettle Afghan special immigrant visa holders, humanitarian parolees, and refugees.

Kar serves on the board of directors of the International Institute of St. Louis, Mid-America Transplant, and the Young Professionals Network of the Regional Business Council. He has previously served in leadership positions with the YMCA of Greater St. Louis, United Way of St. Louis, and on cultural committees with Opera Theatre of St. Louis and The Magic House. Kar is a fellow of both the St. Louis Business Diversity Initiative and the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, and a graduate of Leadership St. Louis. He was also a founding appointed member of the St. Louis City-County Governance Task Force, whose mission was to develop a framework to unify the multiple governments in the region.

Because of his dedication, Kar received a 2019 “Most Intriguing People” award by Who’s Who Diversity in Color. He has previously been honored as a “Diverse Business Leader” by the St. Louis Business Journal, as well as being named to the publication’s prestigious “40 Under 40” list in 2015. Kar is a member of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, South Asian Bar Association, and the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of St. Louis.

Kar graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law, with distinction, in 2001. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from Saint Louis University in 1997. He has been admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court, Central District of Illinois, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Missouri, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Texas and U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois. Kar is a member of the Antitrust section of the American Bar Association.
