Haynes and Boone Silicon Valley Welcomes New Corporate Practice Group Partner

The Haynes and Boone, LLP Silicon Valley office has grown with the addition of Mr. Yan Zhang as its first corporate partner.

Yan’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, public and private securities offerings, and venture capital and private equity transactions, with a particular emphasis on Greater China-focused cross-border transactions.

“As the first corporate hire of the Silicon Valley office, Yan’s extensive background in domestic and cross-border transactions make him an asset to the firm,” said Greg Samuel, chair of the firm’s Dallas-based Corporate Section. “His hands-on experience practicing in California and China enhances our cross-border capabilities and our growing corporate practice.”

The firm’s Managing Partner Terry Conner said, “As a firm, we are continuously trying to broaden the talent pool available to our clients. Yan’s knowledge of corporate transactions does just that, allowing clients with both inbound and outbound dealings in China to tap into his wealth of experience.”

Yan has represented public and private companies in broad corporate and securities matters, in a variety of industries, and the financial institutions that invest in and provide services to public and private companies. Yan also works with private equity and venture capital funds in their investment activities and portfolio company matters.

“His success in China and California shows great promise for the firm’s growth of the corporate practice,” said Albert Tan, co-chair of the firm’s International Practice Group. “We are excited to add him to our already deep bench.”

Previously, Yan worked at top international law firms in both Silicon Valley and China and focused on cross-border transactions. He earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, where he was inducted to the Order of the Coif. While at law school, Zhang served as an associate editor of the Michigan Journal of International Law, and earned numerous honors and awards, including the Clarence Darrow Full Tuition Scholarship.
