Winston & Strawn Adds Litigator Sandra Edwards in San Francisco

Winston & Strawn LLP is pleased to announce the addition of Sandra A. Edwards as a partner in the firm’s San Francisco office. As a civil trial attorney and former Assistant District Attorney for the City and County of San Francisco, Sandra brings to the firm extensive trial experience in federal and state court, particularly in the areas of product liability, toxic torts, and environmental litigation. Sandra joins Winston from Farella Braun & Martel LLP, where she was the Consumer Products and Manufacturing Industry Group Leader and former Chair of the Environmental and Product Law Department.

“I was drawn to Winston & Strawn particularly because of its reputation as a trial and litigation powerhouse,” said Sandra. “I have already spent months in trial and working with a number of exceptional attorneys at the firm, and I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues for clients in the pharmaceuticals, consumer products, and environmental spaces.”

Her practice at Winston will focus on representing corporate clients in multidistrict litigation (MDL), as well as in individual and coordinated lawsuits across a range of products, including pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, and medical devices. Throughout her career, Sandra has counseled major U.S. and international corporations in all phases of litigation, including defending an international manufacturer of regulated pesticides in coordinated proceedings throughout the West Coast, pharmaceutical companies in MDL and coordinated proceedings, and domestic manufacturers of agricultural products in groundwater contamination lawsuits throughout California.

“The scope of Sandra’s practice, and her strong ties to the Bay Area legal and business communities, bolsters the comprehensive litigation experience we can offer our clients, particularly in California,” said Robb Adkins, Winston’s San Francisco Managing Partner.

Sandra served on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce and acted as the organization’s General Counsel from 2010 to 2018. She is also a sustaining member of the Product Liability Advisory Council and serves as the co-chair of the Environmental Litigation Committee’s Subcommittee of Women Environmental Lawyers for the ABA Section of Litigation. She is recognized by Benchmark Litigation Top 250 Women in Litigation, The Best Lawyers in America (Product Liability Litigation-Defense and Litigation-Environmental), and Northern California Super Lawyers.

“Sandra’s expertise trying mass products liability cases will be incredibly valuable for our clients, both in California and nationally,” said Winston Chairman Tom Fitzgerald. “Her experience handling complex civil litigation matters is also impressive to say the least, and we’re thrilled to have her on board.”

Sandra earned her B.A. from Occidental College and her J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
