He is particularly experienced in the defense and prosecution of complex commercial matters involving contract actions, business torts, and post-closing disputes arising out of significant mergers and acquisitions. Lui-Kwan has developed a strong reputation for his representation of financial services clients across the country in consumer class actions and regulatory investigations.

“Kalama has nearly two decades of experience and is a talented litigator and trusted advisor,” said Tony Jones, chair of Troutman Sanders’ Specialized Litigation department. “Our team has had the pleasure of working with him in the past, and he is well-respected throughout the industry.”

“We welcome Kalama to our growing West Coast team,” said Jennifer Mathis, managing partner of Troutman Sanders’ San Francisco office. “He is well-known and highly regarded for his litigation and class action defense work on behalf of financial services clients, and we look forward to working with him as we continue to build our capabilities in San Francisco.”

Lui-Kwan joins a team that has twice been recognized as a Law360 Consumer Protection Practice Group of the Year. From compliance to individual claims to national class actions, the team helps clients navigate the evolving legal risks of doing business with consumers. Troutman Sanders’ trial attorneys have litigated thousands of individual and class action lawsuits involving cutting-edge issues in state and federal courts throughout the United States.

“The combination of Troutman Sanders’ national platform, entrepreneurial culture, and ability to offer multi-disciplinary support for my clients attracted me to the firm,” Lui-Kwan said. “I’m excited to work with my new colleagues on the Financial Services Litigation team and to contribute to the continued growth of the firm’s West Coast practice.”
