Perkins Coie Adds Employment Litigation Partner to San Francisco Office

Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Heather M. Sager has joined the firm in San Francisco as a partner in the Labor & Employment practice. Heather is the fourth Labor & Employment partner to join the firm in the past two months.

“Employers across the country and in California, in particular, continue to face challenges related to the #MeToo movement, the gig economy, discrimination and wrongful termination matters, and Heather has deep experience counseling clients in all these areas,” said Ann Marie Painter, Chair of Perkins Coie’s Labor & Employment practice. “Heather is a highly accomplished labor and employment attorney; she will be a great addition to our team and underlines the firm’s focus on providing the best legal counsel to our clients.”

Heather is a litigator who focuses her practice on representing employers in single-plaintiff, multi-plaintiff, representative, collective and class action matters, including before administrative agencies, state and federal courts. She advises clients on compliance with the newly amended California Equal Pay Act, recent updates to the standard for contractor classification, and the unique wage and hour issues facing companies doing business in the State of California.

“Workplace and employee expectations are evolving at a rapid pace and we’re pleased to welcome an attorney of Heather’s standing and experience to the firm,” said Barbara Schussman, Managing Partner of Perkins Coie’s San Francisco office. “We know Heather will be an incredible asset to our clients in helping them to successfully navigate the changing labor and employment landscape.”

In addition to her litigation practice, Heather manages union organizing and collective bargaining and regularly conducts workplace trainings and wage and hour compliance audits. She joins Perkins Coie from Vedder Price, where she was Chair of the Employment Class Action Group. Sager earned her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and her B.A., cum laude, from Wake Forest University.
