Morgan Lewis Adds E-Discovery Lawyer Karen Hourigan in San Francisco

Morgan Lewis, a recognized longtime leader in the field of ediscovery, today welcomes Karen Hourigan as a partner resident in San Francisco who focuses on ediscovery, information governance, and data privacy. Karen previously practiced at a national law firm focused exclusively on information law and technology and had her own ediscovery and information governance firm. Before joining Morgan Lewis, Hourigan was a partner at HEREIAM Law.

Karen counsels clients on all phases of ediscovery across a wide array of industries. A veteran litigator, she also handles complex litigation, investigations, and mediation, as serves as an ediscovery special master.

“We look forward to Karen joining forces with our state-of-the-art global eData team of lawyers and technologists,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “As automation and artificial intelligence are changing the technology-related issues our clients face, Karen’s extensive experience in information law will help them navigate this quickly evolving space.”

Karen provides both legal and practical advice to help clients understand the risks and opportunities associated with information and technology in business and in litigation.

“Karen is an innovator, consistently pushing the ediscovery field beyond its traditional bounds, and that makes her a natural fit for our eData practice, which for 15 years has been doing the same,” said Tess Blair, leader of Morgan Lewis’s eData practice. “She will be a strong presence for us on the West Coast, and we are thrilled to have her join us.”

A data-driven practice that combines lawyering with technology and design to enhance the delivery of legal services, Morgan Lewis’s eData practice has the global capacity to provide end-to-end discovery and information governance and serves clients across a wide range of industries around the world.

Last year, BTI Consulting Group recognized Morgan Lewis as the #1 Innovation Champion in its first-ever BTI Legal Innovation and Technology Outlook, described as the “definitive list of the most innovative law firms as ranked by general counsel and top legal decision makers” that “are reshaping the legal market to better serve clients.”
