Greenberg Traurig Adds David Bloch as Intellectual Property Shareholder in San Francisco

Continuing its strategic expansion in the Bay Area, global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP added veteran intellectual property litigator David S. Bloch as a shareholder in its San Francisco office. Bloch, who joins the firm from Winston & Strawn, focuses on helping clients understand the complex technical and legal issues that their businesses face.

“Greenberg Traurig’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice is proud to welcome an attorney of David’s caliber and reputation to the firm and our practice,” said Ian C. Ballon, co-chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Global Intellectual Property & Technology Practice. “David is a stellar litigator and intellectual property specialist who adds great expertise and depth to our team in California and nationally. We look forward to working closely with him to continue expanding our existing client relationships by further enhancing Greenberg Traurig’s commitment to serving the needs of our clients in this critical area of law.”

In the past year, Greenberg Traurig has strategically strengthened its IP and Litigation capabilities in the Bay Area. The Silicon Valley office added IP litigators Xavier Brandwajn and Kyle D. Chen, patent litigator Scott Oliver, and patent prosecutor Andrew B. Schwaab; and the San Francisco office added employment litigator Charles O. Thompson, formerly Polsinelli’s San Francisco managing partner.

“We are excited to welcome David to our expanding San Francisco office,” San Francisco Managing Shareholder Michelle Ferreira said. “He brings a wealth of experience and strong relationships in the intellectual property litigation area, which will add to GT’s existing IP litigation bench.”

A highly regarded litigator whose name appears regularly in local and national rankings, Bloch handles patent infringement, copyright, trademark, and trade secret issues, as well as issues relating to intellectual property in Government contracts, for clients in the financial services, technology (networking), health care, and pharmaceutical industries. A prolific writer, frequent public speaker, and lecturer at UC Berkeley School of Law, Bloch is the author of IP and Technology in Government Contracts (now in its fifth edition) and many articles on IP-related issues. He earned his J.D. with honors and a Master’s in Public Health from The George Washington University, and a B.A. in Political Science from Reed College.

“I am delighted to join Greenberg Traurig’s San Francisco office. With its worldwide reach, steady growth, and broad-based practice, GT has positioned itself to be one of the preeminent global firms of the 21st century. I’m excited and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it, and look forward to helping expand the firm’s IP litigation practice in California and worldwide,” Bloch said.
