Labor & Employment Partner Adam Rosenthal Joins Sheppard Mullin Del Mar

Adam Rosenthal has joined the Del Mar (San Diego) office of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP as a partner in the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group. Rosenthal joins from Littler Mendelson.

“Adam is a talented and versatile labor and employment practitioner. He has both a robust litigation and a dedicated counseling practice. His considerable knowledge and experience makes him an excellent addition for the firm and our clients,” said Guy N. Halgren, chairman of Sheppard Mullin.

“I am excited to join Sheppard Mullin, a prestigious firm with a top-notch Labor and Employment Practice Group. In addition to the strength of the firm’s employment practice, I was attracted by the firm’s long-term vision and unmatched dedication to client services, professionalism, and collegiality. I look forward to reuniting with my former partner Nancy Pritikin,” Rosenthal commented. Labor and Employment partner Nancy Pritikin joined Sheppard Mullin’s Palo Alto office in February 2016 from Littler.

Rosenthal represents a broad spectrum of employers in all areas of employment law before federal and state courts. He has significant trial and arbitration experience in single plaintiff and class action cases involving wage and hour disputes, such as allegations of missed meal and rest breaks, unpaid overtime, off-the-clock work and time shaving; wrongful termination; sexual harassment and disability discrimination; defamation; retaliation; and issues relating to non-compete agreements.

Among his notable successes, Rosenthal co-chaired a trial in which he obtained a complete defense verdict on allegations of disability discrimination, retaliation, and violation of the California Family Rights Act. In an arbitration involving race discrimination and retaliation, he not only obtained a complete defense verdict, but his client was also awarded a portion of the attorney’s fees. Rosenthal has successfully defeated multiple motions for class certification which claimed violations of the California Labor Code and the Fair Labor Standards Act. Rosenthal has also successfully obtained summary judgment in numerous state and federal courts.

In addition to his trial and arbitration practice, Rosenthal advises clients on implementing arbitration policies, employment policies and procedures, compliance issues, litigation avoidance, employee benefits and compensation, and trade secrets. He regularly lectures on a variety of employment law topics. Rosenthal represents a wide range of companies and industries, including multinational retailers and restaurant chains, biotechnology, professional services, internet retailers, the sharing economy, education, assisted living facilities, and nonprofit organizations.

Rosenthal received a J.D. in 2006, from University of California, Davis School of Law and a B.A., cum laude, in 2001 from University of California, Los Angeles. While in law school, Rosenthal served as the student member of the University of California’s Board of Regents. Prior to law school, Rosenthal taught middle school in Oakland California as part of the Teach For America program.
