Gavin Eastgate Joins Gordon & Rees as Partner in Pittsburgh Office

P. Gavin Eastgate has joined Gordon & Rees as a partner in the firm’s Pittsburgh office. He is a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group. Eastgate comes to the firm from Reed Smith’s Pittsburgh office, where he was also a partner.

Eastgate has litigated significant commercial contract issues, healthcare payer-provider disputes, and competition cases involving claims of price fixing, market allocation, monopolization, attempted monopolization, vertical restraints, false advertising, non-competes, misappropriation of trade secrets, and private challenges to mergers & acquisitions. He has acted as lead partner on matters in both federal and state courts and has advocated for clients before state and federal government agencies. He also has significant alternative dispute resolution experience.

Eastgate regularly evaluates and advises clients regarding competitive issues associated with mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and other structural transactions. He has handled dozens of premerger notification filings and successfully represented clients before the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission in the merger review process. He also provides antitrust advice to companies regarding distribution and pricing issues and counsels trade associations and their members. He frequently assists clients in the preparation and implementation of antitrust compliance policies.

He has advised global clients in a wide range of industries, including health insurers, hospitals and other healthcare providers, steel manufacturers, chemical producers, safety equipment manufacturers, electrical products distributors, medical products and device manufacturers, retail energy service providers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, private equity investors, music publishers, and financial services firms.

Eastgate served a one year federal court clerkship with the Honorable Thomas M. Hardiman, then District Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, where he advised the court on federal civil and criminal matters. He is a member of the American Bar Association Antitrust Section and the American Health Lawyers Association.

He earned his J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law and B.S.B.A. from Duquesne University and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the Third and Ninth Circuits.
