Greenberg Traurig Expands Litigation Practice in Phoenix; Adds Craig Waugh

Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP added Craig Waugh to its Phoenix office as a shareholder in the Litigation Practice. He joins the firm from DLA Piper.

Waugh has a broad commercial litigation practice encompassing many industries prevalent across the west and southwest, including in Colorado, with particular focus on financial services and health care. His Securities Litigation and ERISA & Employee Benefits Litigation practices center around the intersection of traditional commercial litigation, securities law, and executive separation and change-of-control disputes. Waugh has also represented numerous clients in SEC, FINRA, and Arizona Corporation Commission investigations and enforcement actions involving alleged registration, anti-fraud, suitability, recordkeeping, and other standards violations.

“Craig is a complex commercial litigator whose addition strengthens the firm’s offerings and builds out our capabilities in Arizona, Colorado, and across the region,” said Nicole Goodwin and Jeremy D. Zangara, co-managing shareholders of Greenberg Traurig’s Phoenix office, in a joint statement. “Our goal is always to surpass client expectations, and Craig embraces the values and culture that are so important to our firm.”

Within his litigation practice representing clients in the financial services, real estate investment, manufacturing, and agribusiness industries, Waugh has a growing legal practice within the health care field. His experience includes matters related to hospital and management services organization (MSO) disputes, medical practice dissolutions, and employment-related disputes.

“With the firm’s already ample depth in Arizona and Colorado, I am excited to be able to tap into the global reach of Greenberg Traurig’s vast platform. I’m looking forward to collaborating with other attorneys and joining the strong bench of litigators at the firm,” Waugh said.

Waugh’s hire continues an expansion of Greenberg Traurig’s Phoenix office which recently added Shareholder Charles E. Markle, who focuses on a niche area of Real Estate Litigation known as condominium termination transactions.

Waugh received a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.A. from the University of Vermont. He is admitted to practice law in Arizona and Colorado.
