Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney announces that Jason E. Murtagh has joined the firm as a shareholder in the Labor & Employment section. Murtagh will practice in the firm’s Philadelphia and San Diego offices serving clients with interests on both coasts. Mr. Murtagh joins Buchanan Ingersoll from Rubin Fortunato.
BakerHostetler announced today that Ann O’Brien, most recently assistant chief of the Competition Policy & Advocacy Section and special counsel for Criminal Policy at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Antitrust Division, has joined the firm as a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia offices. O’Brien is the third recent notable addition to BakerHostetler’s Antitrust and Competition team, following Jeffrey Martino, former chief of the DOJ Antitrust Division’s New York office, and Marc Schildkraut, former assistant director with the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition in Washington, D.C. O’Brien will also serve as part of the firm’s White Collar, Investigations and Securities Enforcement and Litigation team.

Sullivan helps clients, ranging from early-stage start-ups to Fortune 100 companies, identify, protect, commercialize and enforce their brands, creativity and technological innovations. He regularly represents both U.S. and European entrepreneurs and clients looking to implement or scale trans-Atlantic operations, including negotiations for numerous commercial licensing, brand licensing and software licensing deals. Sullivan also represents clients in intellectual property, unfair competition and false advertising litigation in state and federal courts, as well as before the USPTO Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and in Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP) proceedings
Goldberg Segalla added partner Eric A. Fitzgerald as a leader in the firm’s Global Insurance Services practice in Philadelphia. Eric was previously with Marshall Dennehey in Philadelphia, where he served on the firm’s board of directors, chaired its insurance coverage practice, and was deputy directory of its professional liability practice.

Duane Morris LLP and Satterlee Stephens LLP announced today that the partners of both firms have approved the material terms of a merger agreement, and it is expected that the deal will be finalized by the end of the month. The combination would substantially expand Duane Morris’ presence in New York City, effectively growing the firm’s New York practice by 60% to more than 160 lawyers. The additional depth in key practice areas and industry sector know-how, coupled with the broader geographic reach of Satterlee within the combined firm, would enhance the range of services available to clients of both firms. Satterlee Stephens, with its 125-year track record of working on some of the market’s most notable deals and important cases, would complement the service offerings of the New York office of Duane Morris, which celebrated its 25th anniversary last year. The combined firm would operate as Duane Morris LLP.
