Holland & Knight Grows Gaming Practice with Addition of Partner Timothy Lowry in Philadelphia

Holland & Knight has strengthened its nationally recognized Corporate, M&A and Securities Practice Group with the addition of Partner Timothy Lowry in Philadelphia. Mr. Lowry provides legal and strategic advice to domestic and multinational clients in the gaming, entertainment and hospitality industries. He was previously a partner and chair of the gaming practice at DLA Piper. Prior to that, he was senior corporate counsel at Harrah’s Entertainment from 2007 to 2009.

“Tim’s arrival will help strengthen our national practice and build upon our growing presence in the entertainment and gaming industries,” said Joe Sirven, chair of Holland & Knight’s Business Section. “Gaming, in particular, has proven to be recession proof and we’ve seen a lot of interest in the sector from private equity firms, professional teams and leagues, and many tech companies, all of which are looking to monetize opportunities fueled by the expansion of gaming laws throughout the country. Tim’s experience will help us align with these clients as they pursue and expand these investments and monetization opportunities.”

Mr. Lowry has represented private equity sponsors, capital groups, large technology companies, entertainment and media companies, energy generation companies, casino- and lottery-operating companies, professional sports teams, and state agencies and instrumentalities, to name a few. Aside from his transactional practice, Mr. Lowry has litigated a number of high stakes matters on behalf of his clients, and he regularly counsels his clients on specific subject matters as gaming regulatory compliance (retail and online), sports betting operations and market access deals, sweepstakes promotions, and the many issues involved relative to the convergence between retail and digital platforms in the casino gaming and sports betting industries.

“Holland & Knight’s recent push to be a leader in entertainment, sports and gaming has not gone unnoticed by these industries,” said Mr. Lowry. “The exceptional work, strategic positioning and collaborative culture at Holland & Knight, combined with the firm’s commitment to growth, present an exciting prospect to amplify our team’s impact nationwide.”
