Paul Hastings Expands Global Finance and Restructuring Practice with Renowned Restructuring Partner and Team in Paris

Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that Guilhem Bremond, previously the managing partner of leading restructuring boutique Bremond & Associés, has joined the firm as a partner, together with a team of seven associates.

“Given all the volatility in the market, we are continuing to bolster our leading global Finance and Restructuring practice through the addition of outstanding lawyers like Guilhem,” said Seth Zachary, chairman of Paul Hastings. “Guilhem is widely regularly recognized as a leading restructuring and insolvency pioneer, with a reputation for delivering strategic, innovative advice.”

“The addition of Guilhem and his team is yet another example of how we have expanded the Paris office, with the arrival of four partners in the last past 12 month, to provide a complete portfolio of transactional legal advice,” said Olivier Vermeulen, chair of the Paris office. “We’re growing strategically and steadily, attracting both top clients and outstanding legal talent to our Paris office, a cornerstone of the firm’s European strategy.”

“Paul Hastings’ culture, which combines an entrepreneurial spirit and a global platform with unparalleled opportunities for growth, was a huge draw for me and my team,” said Guilhem Bremond. “The combination of our know-how with Paul Hastings’ leading Private Equity, M&A and Financing and Restructuring practices will be particularly attractive to my clients in these challenging times,” he added.

In 2006, Bremond was a founding partner of Bremond & Associés. He served as the president of the Association pour le Retournement des Entreprises (ARE) in 2012-2013.

Bremond’s arrival continues the firm’s strong lateral growth in Paris over the past year, including the addition of Antitrust and Competition partner Camille Paulhac, Private Equity partner Charles Cardon, Global Trade managing director Nicola Bonucci, and Tax partner Bruno Leroy.

Paul Hastings’ global Restructuring practice regularly advises on the largest and most complex matters, including representation of: the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the ongoing Puerto Rico bankruptcy cases; Vanguard Natural Resources, an energy exploration and production company, in its Chapter 11 cases; GT Advanced Technologies, a diversified technology company engaged in producing advanced materials and crystal growth equipment, in its Chapter 11 cases; and Global Cloud Xchange, a global provider of undersea and wireless telecommunication services, in its Chapter 11 cases.

The Paris Restructuring team advises companies through all phases of restructuring, whether in a preventive framework—ad hoc mandate, and conciliation—or in collective proceedings, including safeguard, receivership, liquidation. They advise debtors, buyers, creditors and shareholders in the context of major restructuring operations on the French and European markets, as well as assisting French and foreign investors with the acquisition of distressed assets.

At Paul Hastings, our purpose is clear — to help our clients and people navigate new paths to growth. With a strong presence throughout Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the U.S., Paul Hastings is recognized as one of the world’s most innovative global law firms.
