Paul Hastings’ European Growth Advances with Prominent Private Equity/M&A Partner Addition in Paris

Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that prominent private equity and M&A lawyer Arthur de Baudry d’Asson has joined the firm’s Paris office as a partner. He joins from Weil Gotshal & Manges, where he was a corporate partner. His arrival furthers Paul Hastings’ strong lateral growth in Paris and across the firm’s global platform.

“We continue to deepen our global Private Equity and Corporate transactional practices to serve our clients’ evolving needs through the full PE life cycle,” said Seth Zachary, Chair of Paul Hastings. “As a leading private equity and M&A lawyer with wide-ranging experience and top-tier relationships, Arthur is a strong addition who will help us continue to expand our Corporate practice in Paris and globally.”

“Arthur’s arrival illustrates our commitment to strengthening our flagship private equity and M&A expertise in Europe,” said Olivier Vermeulen, Chair of the Paris office. “While our firm is already well established in the mid-cap market in France, Arthur will significantly strengthen our position in the large-cap market, bringing his strong experience and expertise. This recruitment comes at a time of strong growth for the Paris office and for the firm as a whole, following the arrival in London of partners Derwin Jenkinson, Peter Hayes and Mei Lian in the Finance and Restructuring practice,” he added.

“I have followed Paul Hastings’ impressive track record in Paris and around the world for some time now,” said Baudry d’Asson. “I’m excited to join the firm’s outstanding Paris office and work with my new colleagues in advancing the growth of our Private Equity and M&A transactional practices.”

Baudry d’Asson focuses his practice on a wide range of M&A-related matters for public companies as well as buy-out and infrastructure funds. He advises large-cap private equity and infrastructure funds in France and across Europe in a full range of transactions, including public-to-private deals. He also regularly represents private and public companies in high-profile domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, joint ventures, business reorganizations, spin-offs and carve-outs.

The arrival of Baudry d’Asson continues Paul Hastings’ strong lateral growth in Paris over the past year, including the addition of leading Restructuring partner Guilhem Bremond and a team of seven associates, Corporate partner Charles Cardon, Antitrust and Competition partner Camille Paulhac, and Tax partner Bruno Leroy, as well as the arrival of Global Trade managing director Nicola Bonucci from the OECD.

Paul Hastings’ Private Equity practice brings together more than 60 lawyers focusing on key markets across Asia, Europe and the U.S. The firm advised on several high-profile private equity transactions in the last year, including the approximately $4.3 billion enterprise-valued acquisition of LogMeIn by Francisco Partners; the divestiture of both ClickSoftware and Prometheus Group for Francisco Partners − two transactions valued at more than $2.5 billion combined; the $1.4 billion divestiture of Saba software, a portfolio company of Vector Capital; Abry Partners’ sale of a majority interest in AddSecure to Castik Capital; and City Football Group Limited’s $500 million investment deal with Silver Lake. The firm’s Private Equity partners have also been recognized recently as Private Equity MVP by Law360, TMT Lawyer of the Year at the TMT M&A Awards, Dealmaker of the Year at the British Legal Awards, and Private Equity Dealmaker of the Year at The Deal Awards.
