Lewis Brisbois Adds Veteran Trial Attorney and Litigator to Its Newark Office, Continuing the Firm’s Ongoing Expansion in New Jersey

Lewis Brisbois is pleased to welcome Joseph A. Gallo to its Newark, New Jersey office as a partner in the firm’s General Liability Practice. Mr. Gallo’s arrival is the latest addition to the firm’s New Jersey location, which has grown from six to 60 attorneys over the last six years. Joining Lewis Brisbois from McGivney, Kluger, Clark & Intoccia, Mr. Gallo brings over 40 years of legal experience to the firm, including deep trial experience.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Gallo has defended clients in thousands of matters, including claims involving construction accidents, premises liability, the Child Victims Act, product liability, toxic torts, professional liability, wrongful death, false arrest, and environmental torts. As a Martindale-Hubbell AV-rated litigator, he has taken more than 30 cases to verdict, and also has extensive experience in appellate practice. Moreover, Mr. Gallo consistently has maintained a diverse client base, representing a variety of public entities and their employees, commercial and residential property owners, construction contractors and subcontractors, retail establishments, product manufacturers and distributors, oil companies, and trucking companies.

In commenting on Mr. Gallo’s arrival, Newark Managing Partner Colin P. Hackett noted, “I have known Joe for over 25 years, and in that time, he has always been the smartest person in the room no matter what room that is – an office, a courtroom, a judge’s chambers. He is that, while also being incredibly humble, which is a rare combination. We are fortunate to have Joe here at this time to service the clients we have and to impart his knowledge and wisdom to the younger attorneys in the office.”

Similarly, Lewis Brisbois Managing Partner Gregory S. Katz noted, “When the firm can add someone with Joe’s trial and litigation experience, it is a win for our clients and the firm, while also being a testament to the firm’s ability to attract the best trial attorneys and litigators in the country.”

Discussing his move to Lewis Brisbois, Mr. Gallo explained, “I have known Colin and several other partners at Lewis Brisbois for a long time and have practiced with them in the past. I look forward to doing so again, as well as to servicing the needs of my clients and Lewis Brisbois’ existing clients with the benefit of the firm’s unique platform and reputation.”

Outside of his practice, Mr. Gallo has served as a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Jury Selection in Criminal and Civil Trials. In addition, he is a Certified Civil Trial Attorney, a certification granted by the New Jersey Supreme Court to less than 2% of attorneys in the state.

Mr. Gallo earned his law degree from the Seton Hall University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University. He is admitted to practice in state and federal court in New Jersey and New York.
