“The growth of our US offices and more broadly our litigation practices is a global priority,” said Scott Hershman, White & Case partner and Head of the Firm’s White Collar Practice. “Joel is a nationally recognized trial lawyer with an outstanding market reputation and profile, and his addition to the team will further strengthen our practice.”

Cohen is a trial lawyer and former federal prosecutor who has been lead or co-lead counsel in 24 civil and criminal trials in federal and state courts. His experience includes all aspects of FCPA/anticorruption issues, insider trading, cross-border tax issues, securities and financial institution litigation, class actions, sanctions, money laundering and asset recovery, with a particular focus on international disputes and discovery. He was the prosecutor of Jordan Belfort and Stratton Oakmont, which is the focus of “The Wolf of Wall Street” film by Martin Scorsese, and was an advisor to the OECD in connection with the effort to prohibit corruption in international transactions and was the first Department of Justice legal liaison advisor to the French Ministry of Justice.

“Joel has a strong track record of business generation and success,” said Nicole Erb, White & Case partner and Regional Section Head for Americas Trade, Intellectual Property & White Collar. “His arrival will boost our white collar, securities and financial institution litigation capabilities in the US, and will be an outstanding addition to our team.”
