The 50 Best Law Firms For Women Attorneys

Flex-Time Lawyers and Working Mothers Magazine released the second annual survey Tuesday, containing the 50 best law firms for women. The survey takes many factors into account, including: work-life balance, retention of female attorneys, family accommodation, and mentoring opportunities for women. This year, the survey has had increased participation with 115 firms taking part, up from last year’s 85. Ten New York law firms made the cut, four of which are repeats from last year’s list. The survey found some interesting results: an outstanding 98 percent of the top 50 firms host networking programs for female lawyers, 68 percent provide mentoring for senior female associates and 62 percent offer management training for women attorneys. Almost all firms surveyed have some type of flexible and/or part-time work schedules, paid parental leave and outreach programs that include women attorneys who opt to stay home during their children’s formative years with help in maintaining bar association memberships and CLE credits. This survey may play an integral role of maintaining and reaching suitable working conditions for female lawyers for years to come.
