Sidley’s New York Office Welcomes Investment Funds Partner Nicholas Cassin

Sidley is pleased to announce the addition of Nicholas Cassin to the New York office’s Investment Funds group. Mr. Cassin arrives from Kirkland & Ellis, where he has been a partner in the Investment Funds group since 2017.

Mr. Cassin is a leading practitioner in the secondaries space and has extensive experience advising secondaries buyers and fund sponsors on a full range of fund liquidity transactions across multiple alternative asset classes (including private equity, real estate, and infrastructure). His secondary market experience includes traditional portfolio sales, preferred equity and stapled secondaries, and GP-led fund restructurings. In 2018, he was named to Secondaries Investor’s list of the “Next Gen Leaders of Secondaries.”
“Nick has the skills and drive to support our growing secondaries practice through his deep experience and his demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships,” said Elizabeth Shea Fries, a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, global leader of the Investment Funds practice, and managing partner of Sidley’s Boston office. “As we continue to expand Sidley’s value proposition for private equity and other investment firms, Nick will work closely with our clients and partners across our practices including in the private equity, energy, and real estate sectors.”
“Nick joins a robust team working with the largest players in the investment funds business,” said Michael Schmidtberger, Sidley’s Executive Committee Chair. “Our lawyers have worked across the table from Nick and have been very impressed with his commitment to his clients and his understanding of the active secondaries transaction market.”
