Public Finance Partner Faust Bowerman Joins Holland and Knight

Holland & Knight has strengthened its national public finance practice with the addition of Faust Bowerman as a tax partner. He will work in both the New York and Austin, Texas, offices at the firm. Mr. Bowerman was previously a partner at Hawkins Delafield & Wood LLP.

Mr. Bowerman focuses his practice on federal income tax matters relating to public finance and will serve as the leader of the firm’s public finance tax practice. He has advised clients on federal income tax aspects of tax-exempt and tax credit bond financing transactions involving the issuance of private activity bonds (including exempt facility bonds, qualified mortgage bonds and qualified 501(c)(3) bonds) and governmental bonds throughout the United States.

“Faust is a nationally known and dynamic partner who we believe will hit the ground running. His extensive skillset will be of immediate benefit to our clients utilizing tax-exempt financing to ensure compliance with the Internal Revenue Code, including IRS audits,” said Woody Vaughan, who leads the firm’s public finance practice. “We are thrilled to welcome him to our firm.”

“We are very focused on growing our financial services capabilities across our firm, and Faust’s deep experience in servicing public finance clients enables him to provide tax opinion support for our public finance attorneys across the country,” said Cindy Brazell, who co-chairs the firm’s Financial Services Practice Group. “He is a natural complement to our team and we are excited to bring him on board.”

“Holland & Knight’s broad platform is the ideal place for me to continue to grow my practice,” Mr. Bowerman said. “I look forward to being part of the firm’s future, its collaborative culture, and its highly regarded financial services practice.”

Mr. Bowerman earned a J.D. degree and an LL.M. degree in taxation from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law and a B.A. degree from The University of Texas at Austin. He is admitted to practice law in New York and Texas.
