Peter Emmi Joins Reed Smith’s Corporate Practice in New York

Global law firm Reed Smith today announced that Peter Emmi has joined the firm as a partner in the Global Corporate Group in New York. Emmi has extensive experience representing clients with transactional matters in diverse industries, including internet technology, FinTech, blockchain, InsurTech, healthcare, medical device, biotechnology, media, virtual reality and solar technology. Emmi was previously at Akin Gump for the past two and a half years. Prior to that he was an IP attorney for Cravath, Swaine & Moore.

Emmi is the fifth recent addition to Reed Smith’s Global Corporate Group. Other recent joiners include Julia Boyd in New York, Julia Zhu-Morelli in Los Angeles, Hope D’Oyley-Gay in Princeton and Moshe J. Kupietzky in Century City.

Before beginning his legal career, Emmi was a lead negotiator for IP licenses and agreements in IBM’s Intellectual Property & Licensing Group in the company’s headquarters. In addition, he has more than 15 years of experience as an engineer and engineering manager in IBM’s former Microelectronics Division, including card-level electronics design and testing, software development, and semiconductor research and development.

Emmi received his J.D., cum laude, from Pace Law School in 2004. He received a B.S in electrical engineering, with a minor in management in 1988, and a master’s degree in electrical engineering with a certificate in microelectronics manufacturing in 1990 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
