Paul Hastings Expands Market-Leading Structured Credit Practice

Further solidifying its Band 1 ranking and dominant market share in collateralized loan obligations, Paul Hastings LLP announced today that preeminent lawyer Nicholas (Nick) Robinson leads a group who has joined the firm. Robinson joins as a partner alongside fellow partner Tracy Feng and a team of associates, all based in New York. Feng and Robinson both arrive from Allen & Overy LLP in New York.

“We are proud to have worked on over 45% of CLO deals tracked globally in 2022 by league tables, and believe the addition of Nick and Tracy is complementary to our existing client base and work. We are confident this group will help us further increase our market share with clients on their most sophisticated matters,” said Eugene Ferrer, chair of the Paul Hastings structured credit practice.

A Chambers-ranked leader in the field, Robinson represents financial institutions, asset managers, and investors in collateralized loan obligations and other structured credit transactions, especially in the private credit and middle market loan space, where he and Feng will enable Paul Hastings to gain further market share.

“The opportunity to join the No. 1 CLO practice is one I could not pass up. The Paul Hastings team has a stellar reputation in the market and I’m excited to be part of it and take advantage of the synergies our combination will create, especially in the private credit and middle market CLO space,” said Robinson.

Frequently consulting on regulatory matters involving U.S. and EU risk retention compliance, the Volcker Rule and other CLO-related regulatory compliance issues, Robinson’s practice also includes diverse capital markets matters, including debt private placements, leveraged finance, and transportation finance. He has co-authored several articles on critical CLO market issues, is often quoted on CLO topics in the financial press, and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences.

Also a frequent industry conference speaker who has spoken at both global and U.S. ABS/CLO conferences, Feng represents underwriters, issuers, collateral managers, and investors in broadly syndicated and middle-market CLOs and other structured credit transactions.
