Paul Hastings Adds Leading Derivatives Partner in New York

Paul Hastings LLP announced today that derivatives lawyer Jaime Madell has joined the firm as a partner in New York. Before joining Paul Hastings, Madell was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis and a managing director responsible for derivatives and related matters at Guggenheim Partners, the global investment and advisory financial services firm.

Focusing on a wide range of derivatives and related matters, Madell brings a sophisticated practice, which spans all asset classes and product types, including over-the-counter and exchange-traded transactions in credit, equity, commodity, crypto, energy, interest rate and foreign exchange.
In addition to counseling clients on transactional matters, Madell regularly appears before regulators and advises on questions involving the Dodd-Frank Act, the Investment Company Act, NFA/CFTC registration obligations and exemptions, insurance-related derivatives rules, and securities regulatory matters related to derivatives and hybrid instruments.
Paul Hastings continues to be a destination for premier talent, as Madell’s arrival at the firm closely follows the recent additions of premier infrastructure and energy partners Jessamy Gallagher and Stuart Rowson, and leading finance partners Morgan Bale and Patrick Bright. In the last year, the firm has added partners across diverse practice areas, including investigations and white collar defense, M&A and shareholder activism, financial restructuring, infrastructure and energy transition, financial services investigations, regulation and litigation, and real estate.
Madell is also a lecturer-in-law at the University of Chicago Law School and is actively engaged in non-profit work.
