Cozen O’Connor Desires Expansion in NY

Cozen O’Connor has officially moved into its new office in Manhattan, New York. The new 46,000 square feet space resides on the 19th floor at 277 Park Ave. The firm signed an 11-year sublease. Abby Wenzel, managing partner, explained that the firm is looking to expand. The firm can take in 20 new attorneys and about 10 staff employees.

Another One Jumps Ship

Another partner has fled White & Case. Steve Betensky, the firm’s global IT practice chair. Betensky specializes in trademark and patent licensing agreements. Before moving to White & Case’s New York office, he worked in the Palo Alto and Prague offices.

O’Melveny & Myers Loses M&A Partner to Fried Frank

Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson has just hired a mergers and acquisitions partner for its New York office. Steven Epstein is leaving O’Melveny & Myers for the opportunity with Fried, Frank. He joined O’Melveny in 2005 and became partner in 2007. Looks like Fried, Frank is anticipating a surge in M&A work in 2010!

Winston & Strawn is Increasing Numbers

A three lawyer team has migrated from Dewey & LeBoeuf to Winston & Strawn.  Lawrence Larose, lead counsel for MBIA Insurance Corp. last year, Samuel Kohn, counsel at Dewey, and Sarah Trum, an associate are joining Winston in New York.  Winston & Strawn has made it clear that the firm wishes to grow its New York presence and boost its numbers from 200 attorneys to 300.

Dechert Hires Two Restructuring Partners

Dechert snagged Allan Brilliant and Craig Druehl, two restructuring attorneys from Goodwin Procter. Brilliant co-headed the restructuring department at Goodwin since 2005. Druehl was an associate but is joining Dechert as a partner.
