O’Melveny Welcomes Versatile New York M&A Partner Brian F. McKenna

O’Melveny announced today that versatile M&A and private equity lawyer Brian F. McKenna has joined the firm’s New York office as a partner in its Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group, further strengthening O’Melveny’s transactional capabilities in the world’s most active deal market. McKenna comes to O’Melveny from the New York office of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, where he was a member of that firm’s Corporate and Securities Group.

McKenna brings nearly two decades of experience to O’Melveny as a trusted advisor to public and private companies, private equity and venture capital funds, financial institutions, family offices, and sovereign wealth funds on a broad range of transactions—concentrating on private company M&A and private equity investments. His practice spans a wide array of industries, including financial services, fintech, technology, and media.

McKenna’s addition accelerates O’Melveny’s strategic East Coast growth. With his arrival, 13 lateral partners have joined O’Melveny’s New York and Washington, DC offices in the past year, including three corporate partners in New York.

“Brian is a perfect fit for us as we continue to grow our New York corporate team,” said O’Melveny Chair Bradley J. Butwin. “Our clients will benefit from Brian’s extensive experience, which aligns well with our strengths—especially in financial services and fintech M&A, private equity, venture capital, and cross-border transactions. It is a pleasure to welcome him to O’Melveny.”

“I am excited to join O’Melveny and to help expand the firm’s M&A and private equity capabilities in New York and beyond,” said McKenna. “Along with being drawn to O’Melveny’s world-class platform, I was impressed by the firm’s commitment to client service and fostering a culture of inclusivity, collegiality, and collaboration. I am happy to be a part of that. And I look forward to providing my clients with the many benefits O’Melveny has to offer.”

McKenna earned his B.A. magna cum laude from Brown University. He earned his J.D. from Cornell Law School.
