Mintz Adds Renowned Sports Attorney Steven Olenick to Chair Practice

Mintz is pleased to announce that Steven Olenick, a nationally recognized transactional attorney with particular expertise in the sports sector, has joined the firm as Chair of the Sports & Entertainment Practice and a Member of the Corporate & Securities Group, resident in the New York office. Prior to joining Mintz, Mr. Olenick was a partner at K&L Gates.

Mr. Olenick counsels organizations and individuals in the sports industry on strategic, transactional and litigation issues. He regularly represents stakeholders in a broad range of complex sports law matters, including equity-related deals, endorsement deals, branding and intellectual property issues, and disciplinary actions and disputes.

In addition to his sports focus, Mr. Olenick also advises banks, private equity funds, family offices, wealth advisors, and other corporate entities on acquisitions, financings, and general day-to-day legal issues. He acts as an additional resource to existing advisors and stakeholders for family offices, high-net-worth individuals and C-suite executives providing strategic targeted advice.

“Steve is a nationally recognized sports lawyer, and his addition to Mintz takes our national Sports practice to another level, as it significantly increases our reputation and capabilities on the transactional side. What makes Steve so unique is his ability to combine and cross-pollinate his corporate transactional practice with his sports focus, and we look forward to increasing the scope and depth of services we can offer to our clients in the sports and entertainment industries,” said Mintz Managing Member Bob Bodian. “He joins our New York office at an exciting time, as we are on the cusp of moving into our new space. We continue to be in growth mode in the city, and across the firm.”

Mr. Olenick’s arrival is set against the backdrop of a number of strategic hires for the firm this year, including the additions of Members Michelle Lipkowitz (Litigation), Kathryn Edgerton (Health), Benjamin Ferrucci (Employment, Labor & Benefits), Timothy Santoli (Tax), Suparna Datta (IP), Dean Farmer (IP), Serge Banini (IP), and Michael Maline (Capital Markets).
